hello autumn!

Hello autumn! Today is September 23 which officially marks the first day of fall. Who else is as excited as I am? Although the colors have not yet arrived and the leaves aren't falling, it's never too early to start a little fall baking. This week I made pumpkin oreo cheesecake and homemade pumpkin spice coffee creamer. Cozy food. Anyways, that's not what this blog is about, maybe next time :)


Where does the time go? I thought the long hot days of summer were just beginning. I haven't posted on the good ol' blog for over a month. How is everyone? I'm sure you are all just as busy getting into the flow of a new semester, a new schedule, a new job, and whatever else life decides to throw your way.


I have been thinking about buying a new lens soon and narrowed it down to two. I decided to rent a lens in the valley when I made a trip to Redondo Beach with a few of my lovely friends. Although the weekend was busy and I didn't get around to an official shoot, I just snapped a few pictures around my room. I actually took most of these after sun down and I was surprised at how much light the lens allowed into the camera without flash (thank you 35mm 1.4)!


I have a photo shoot set up with a friend today, in celebration of fall of course, and another one in October so I won't leave you all hanging as long as I did last month, sorry, the beginning of the school year is always so time consuming!

Baby Elijah in the tummy

Baby Elijah is going to be one lucky baby. Let me tell you why. First of all, he has two amazing parents who have began reading bed time stories. What a magnificent idea. I've always heard that it's never too early to read to a child, but now I've had the chance to see it played out. Tricia and Randy are both so excited to give birth to their first child. It's quite precious. Second, he has an elephant in his room! Those of you that know me well are well aware that I LOVE elephants. And, as you can see, baby Elijah has not only an elephant to watch over him at night but a whole set of jungle friends.

Patricia and Randy, I am so excited for you guys and the start of your new family! ...& Tricia, have fun at the baby shower your work is throwing today :)

soda pop, picnics, and cousins

I was so excited when Haylie contacted me to take photos for her and her cousins who were coming out from North Carolina for a few weeks during the summer. In the course of the shoot I was reminded of why I love shooting families because of how much fun they have together. It's so easy to capture every one being themselves. We headed down pacific coast highway to one of the most breath-taking beaches I have been to in California. Little did I know that the hike down to the beach was quite arduous and so there was no way in carrying my larger props down the dozens of stair. But thats okay because, as you can tell, the climbing was absolutely worth it for the props that did make it. Haylie, Zach, Josh, and their grandparents were simply stunning :)
